Changing The World Through Music – Introducing SATANIC PUNISH

Recently, Japanese idol group SATANIC PUNISH returned to the idol world after a hiatus, the group is formed of MEL, WEBSHIKI. & USAGI.

Group creator FUDOU GANTETSU, describes the concept of Satanic Punish as follows :

“Fighting music, a fighting concept. Evil spirits declare war on the weak. It’s time to execute punishment on things that cannot be judged by the law. Eyes for Eyes, Teeth for Teeth. Songs about the absurdity, unreasonability and inequality of the world. 

This is the sound of Satanic Punish, brutal metal with the aerial grace of the idol spirit behind it. Metalcore with a mostly genre-less structure (including raffle, Electro, Chinese and more) that also includes things like chip tunes and rock.

The group is definitely doing something different in the idol scene today.”

FUDOU : “This is Satanic Punish’s concept.

I think music will never be able to change the world…however, music can change the people.

For example, if a girl were to feel that she needed to leave this world , and there is music that can calm her mind, she may change her decision.”

 

(Adam’s Note) : I was sent the song “Bully” during the making of this introductory piece. The song is linked to the unfortunate passing of a girl who was struck by a train in 2019.

The song is both a message for the victim as well as those who may be suffering, it is designed to speak to others who may be struggling and thinking of a way out.

FUDOU : “Almost all of Satanic Punish’s songs are very brutal… for example, our first single “WHITEWOLF” is about the 3.11 earthquake in Japan.

I think people all over the world were paralyzed from boring and meaningless news.

Therefore, we must spread propaganda, and talk about the more important things through our music.

Satanic Punish is like the 2nd BABYMETAL. In fact, our first 5 singles were created by the same composer as BABYMETAL.

Next year, we want to go abroad… we can do it !”

Q : Please introduce yourselves and tell us something about you

KISARAGI : Hello, i’m Kisaragi Mel, the leader of Satanic Punish and in charge of screaming, but I also enjoy the clean vocals in our songs, my hobby is fishing !

WEBSHIKI. : In charge of the colour Bakibaki Pink, I am Webshiki.

USAGI : I am the youngest member in charge of “Innocent White”, Himeno Usagi

 

Q : How would you describe Satanic Punish ? 

KISARAGI  : It’s a vicious group

WEBSHIKI. : It’s a place where you can make the most out of anything, it’s also a place where the fans can enjoy themselves without having to think about anything else

USAGI : Satanic Punish is a group where you can do everything, there are strong messages in it’s songs, as well as authentic metal-core.

 

Q : Are there any artists that have heavily influenced your sound ? 

KISARAGI : DIR EN GREY,  NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST

WEBSHIKI. : Kin’nikushōjo-tai,  Motionless In White, Suicide Silence

Q : Can you tell us about your new single, “Pray For Satan” ? 

KISARAGI : : It is an evil, outrageous and extreme sound that is suitable for the start of our second phase as a group.

WEBSHIKI. : It’s a big step to take for the current formation of Satanic Punish, so I think that this new single will be a big leap for us as a group.

USAGI : This song is the beginning of the second stage of Satanic Punish. It has a strong sound and feeling. I think that it’s a song that will make Satapani grow even more!

 

Q : If you could do a world tour, which country would you like to visit ? 

KISARAGI : : Satapani will conquer the world.

WEBSHIKI. :  All of the countries where our fans support us

USAGI : I want to go to all of the countries where my fans reside!

 

Q : . Finally, do you have a message for all fans of Satanic Punish in both Japan and overseas?

KISARAGI : Furete nemure* (Tremble as you sleep).

WEBSHIKI. : Thanks to everyone’s support we are constantly evolving at a steady pace. Thank you.
